Zachary James Nadeau

WINTHROP – Zachary James Nadeau, 28, one of the most inspiring people to ever grace this earth, passed away peacefully on Thursday August 12, 2021 at the Alfond Center Maine General with his loving wife and family at his side. He fought and won his battle against Leukemia but unfortunately a rare terminal side effect was discovered. He was the loving husband of Emily R. (Leonard) Nadeau.

Zach was born July 7, 1993, the beautiful son of Jennifer Bryant Nadeau and Aime Nadeau. He lived in Winthrop and graduated from Winthrop High School Class of 2013. He went on to the University of Maine at Farmington where he received his bachelor’s degree and was studying at USM for his master’s.

All three of his siblings got tested for a bone marrow match for their brother. His sister, Joey, was a perfect match that gave us two more years full of love with him.

Zach loved nature, hiking, being outside, camping, going to concerts, fishing, climbing mountains, the ocean, music, playing his guitar, dog training, history, geology and loved to unwind with a good movie in the evenings. But most of all he loved his Sweet Em, his people and Ozzy. He was a major foodie, and loved trying new foods and restaurants. He collected knives and loved being a creative craftsman. He was very proud to have started his own small business, Lightning Bug Outfitters. In his college years he was an incredible and devoted Rugby player for UMF, and was loved by his fellow teammates. In high school he played football and did various events in track and field.

In addition to his loving wife, Emily, and his parents, Zach is survived by his three younger siblings. His best friend and brother, Casey B. Nadeau; his amazing sister, Sara Nadeau, her partner Zack Lowe and son, Daniel; and his creative and hilarious sister, Joey Nadeau. His treasured Nan, Judy Bryant; his special aunts and uncles Jinny Bryant and Dick Hayford, Julee Morrissette, Lloyd Bryant and Nancy, Leslie Bryant, Marv and Fred Wilson, Bob and Dottie Bryant, and Buster Potter; his mother and father-in-law, Cathy “Mama Cath” Leonard, and David Leonard; and his brother-in-law, Michael Leonard; and family friends Ingrid Jensen, and Glen Hawes. He leaves behind his loyal dog, Ozzy. He is also survived by many loving cousins, extended family, so many friends, and his community.

Zach is predeceased by his uncle, Leon “Old Guy” Bryant.

Zach’s visiting hours will be in the Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St. Winthrop on Tuesday, August 17, from 4 to 7 p.m. His Celebration of Life will be held at the YMCA Camp of Maine, 305 Winthrop Center Rd., Winthrop on Saturday evening, August 21, with a service at 5 p.m. and a celebration to follow until 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
