CLINTON — A family of three was displaced Tuesday evening after a fire caused damage to their home on Diamond Avenue, officials said.

Clinton Fire Chief Travis Leary said in a phone call Wednesday the fire was deemed accidental, but he did not mention the cause. Departments were dispatched to 33 Diamond Ave. at 9:38 p.m. Tuesday, and upon arrival, smoke was showing from the home.

“We found a small fire in the back hallway and bedroom of the home,” Leary said. “There was one adult and two children in the home, and they were not injured.”

Leary did not know the identification of the family or whether they were renting or owned the home, or if the home is insured.

“It was accidental,” Leary said.

No injuries were reported, but the family was not able to stay overnight at the house due to smoke and water damage.

“(They left the scene) and went with family, and I know that the Red Cross has been in contact with them to set up arrangements,” Leary said.

Leary added that crews, including Fairfield, Winslow and Burnham fire departments, left the scene around 1 a.m. Wednesday.
