Delina Lillian Wacome

MADISON – Delina “Chubby” Lillian Wacome, 78, a lifelong resident of Madison, passed away at home with her family by her side on August 23, 2021.

She was born May 1, 1943 to Elwood H. and Catherine (Coro) Gordon. Her early years were spent on Fahi Pond in Embden, later moving to Madison, where she attended Madison schools. Through the years she worked at Woolworth’s, North Anson Reel, and later on for Sta-Flex working beside her husband. She was married to the love of her life, Howard “Butch” S. Wacome, until his passing in 2010.

She was a devoted wife and mother to their only son, Chad Wacome. Being a mother was her greatest accomplishment.

Chubby made friends easily and maintained many of those friendships throughout her life. Anyone that knew her, knew how much she loved her home, where her door was always open. If you needed a place to stay, and it didn’t matter how long, you were welcome at “The Farm”, no questions asked. Her kindness, generosity, and loving heart will be deeply missed by all of the lives she touched.

The dignity and courage with which she lived her life, marked the way she passed from it.

Chubby is survived by her son, Chad; granddaughter, Kaia, Kaia’s mother, Danielle, all who were the loves and light of her life; her siblings, brother, Elwood Gordon and wife Rita, sister Catherine Frazier and husband Richard, Celena Emery and husband Dan, all of Madison, Barbara Kelly and husband Joel of Connecticut. Her stepsons Kevin Wacome and wife Sharon of Norridgewock, Todd Wacome and wife Julie of Madison, stepdaughter, Glenda Knowlan and husband Butch, of Wayne; as well as many cousins; nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Howard; stepdaughter, Debbie Knight; nephew, Kent Lagasse; and special longtime friends Alta Vicniere and Deirdre Nile Cass.

The family would like to express a special thank you to nieces Lori Christopher and Michelle Demchak for their continued care over the years, cousin John Peters, who was there for her daily, Aunt Zaleen and Aunt Kimmee who were always there for her whenever she needed them.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 11 at 11 a.m. in Forest Hill Cemetery, Madison.
