What should the state be doing to prevent nursing homes from closing in Maine?
This month, three Maine nursing homes announced that they would be closing, citing staffing shortages and vaccine hesitancy as driving factors. In a state with one of the country’s oldest median ages, how should Maine help prevent nursing home closures? Does the state have an obligation to keep them open?
