Georgia E. Glidden

AUGUSTA – Georgia E. Glidden, 76, of Gray Birch Drive, died Sept. 10, 2021 at her home after a brief illness. She was born in Bucksport on May 22, 1945, the daughter of Harold Shortman and Mae Louise (Anderson) Shortman.

Mrs. Glidden was educated in Bucksport, went to high school at Erskine Academy and acquired a Medtech/CNA license.

For many years, she owned and operated Elmer’s Barn in Coopers Mills. She had rotating door for neighborhood kids. She cooked for the Governor Longley Campaign, she was a candy showgirl for Walt Disney, a real estate agent, treasure of PTA of North Whitefield, assisted in the 1976 bicentennial Whitefield, Maine. Lioness at the Lions Club in Coopers Mills, worked at Country Manor of Coopers Mills and entrepreneur. She loved to cook and entertained many. She lived a life of determination, accomplished anything she set her mind to doing.

Her husband, Newell R.E. Glidden, predeceased her in November of 2016.

Surviving is her son, Clifford Wilson of Coopers Mills, her daughter, Emily Wilson of Lewis, N.Y. and daughter Ivana Wescott of Windsor; grandson Seth Allen of Concord, N.C., granddaughter Tiffany Wilson of Coopers Mills, and Rosalie Wilson of Randolph.

There are no planned visiting hours. A committal service will be held at Rest Haven Cemetery, Windsor at 3:00 p.m. on Friday Sept. 17, 2021.
