Fernand H. Lachance Sr.

BELGRADE – Fernand H. Lachance, Sr., 74, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2021, at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta following a brief illness. He was born in Augusta on June 6, 1947, a son of the late Adelard J. and Antoinette (Rodrique) Lachance, Sr.

Mr. Lachance attended Augusta schools and was a communicant of St. Michael Parish. He had been employed by Augusta General Hospital for 12 years. He was a graduate of the Police Academy in Waterville and went to work for the Maine State Credit Union and then went into Law Enforcement permanently as a Special Police Officer for Augusta, Gardiner and Hallowell. He later joined the Civil Division at the Kennebec County Sherriff’s Office until his retirement in 2009.

Mr. Lachance was predeceased by a brother, Adelard Lachance, Jr. and his sister, Theresa Clark.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Brenda M. (Trepanier) Lachance of Belgrade; his son, Fernand H. Lachance, Jr. of Belgrade, his daughter, Patricia A. Lachance of Skowhegan; a brother, Paul Lachance of Augusta; grandchildren, Kaylee M. St. Jarre, Nicholas F. Lachance, Cash Lachance, Christopher Pelletier, Autumn Lachance and Magenta Lachance; seven great- grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

At his request, there will be no public visiting hours. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 2 at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Cemetery, Townsend Rd., Augusta.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, ME.
