Although life is returning to normal, many are still struggling to rebound from the pandemic. It’s been difficult for many to find jobs and stay safe amidst such uncertainty, and as a result, Maine’s economy has taken a hit.

Even worse, projects like the hydropower corridor, which would create many high-paying jobs, are under threat. Opponents of this project at— backed by special interest groups — are trying to stop its construction by placing a question on the ballot this November. If it passes, it will harm our economy and people will continue to be out of work.

The corridor project is set to provide thousands of new jobs for the state of Maine, many across different sectors and professional areas. I have also heard that the jobs it requires will pay a good salary. This is a great opportunity to earn income for those who have not been employed in the past 18 months.

Despite life being hard for citizens throughout the state of Maine, I am confident that we can get through this with projects and investments like the corridor. We cannot let the influence of special interest groups hold back our recovery from the pandemic. Say no to Question 1 this fall.
