Christopher Peter Truppa

AUGUSTA – Christopher Peter Truppa, 70, of Augusta, died unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, Sept. 16., 2021, at his daughter’s house.

He was born in Long Beach, Long Island, N.Y. on May 22, 1951, the son of Peter and Dana (Tricarico) Truppa.

Christopher grew up in Yonkers, N.Y. and attended Mt. Saint Michael’s academy an all-boys catholic school graduating in 1969. After graduation Christopher enlisted in the United States Navy serving in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1972. He re-enlisted in the United States Coast Guard where he spent the last 16 years of his military life on active duty. Christopher received the Coast Guard medal for heroism while serving at Beach Haven station in Beach Haven, N.J. He would then go onto work for the Knox County Sheriff’s Office until his retirement in August of 2010.

Christopher married the love of his life, Sherry Maxim, in December of 1991. They spent the next 32 short years together. Christopher and Sherry enjoyed road trips and antiquing in their retirement together.

Christopher enjoyed hunting with his daughter, Erin. In his retirement, he was the childcare provider for his daughter, Haley, which he thought was the best retirement job he could have. He enjoyed instilling life lessons in his daughter, Katie.

Anyone who knew Chris knew he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather; an avid outdoorsman, gunsmith, jack of all trades, and best of all a friend to those he welcomed into a circle. If you were able to pass muster, you were his friend for life.

Christopher was predeceased by his parents Peter and Dana Truppa.
