BELFAST – William F. Wood, 75, of Belfast passed away on Sept. 13, 2021, from complications of COVID-19 at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
He was born in Belfast to Forrest S. Wood and Eleanor (Crabiel) Wood on Sept. 10, 1946. Bill grew up in Fairfield and lived his married life in Oakland.
He started out as an LPN and started Arrow Ambulance with his friend, Larry Forsythe. Later, he worked for his parents at JE McCormick and Son on Sanger Avenue in Waterville. He then worked for the Oakland Wastewater Treatment Plant until his retirement in 2011.
Bill and his wife, Muriel “Murr”, moved to Belfast in 2000 after Bill’s mother passed. Here, they greatly enjoyed boating and living on the ocean.
Bill leaves wife of 54 years, Muriel; daughter, Michelle Alessi and her spouse Stephen of Haverhill, Mass., son, F. Stephen Wood and partner Leithan of Portland; grandchildren Isabelle and Connor Alessi.
He was predeceased by his parents; brother and sister.

A private family interment will be held at South Belfast Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Riposta Funeral Home. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at ripostafh.com.
