AUGUSTA – Sandra Sawtelle Herron of Augusta, daughter of Keith and Beatrice Sawtelle, born in Gardiner on August 6, 1938, passed away at home, surrounded by loved ones, on Sept. 21, 2021.

Sandra graduated from Cony High School in 1956 and continued her education at Fullerton Nursing College in California. Sandra was married to her high school sweetheart, Donald Herron, for 57 years. Together, they moved from California to Maine and many places in between.

Sandra was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother known for her radiating beauty, spirit, and gift of hospitality. Family, friends, food, animals, music, dancing, and the ocean were some of her favorite things. She loved her family with a passion, and that love will be carried on into the world through each of them.

Sandra is survived by her four children, Kimberly Anders (Colorado), Rebecca Herron-Robbins (Maine), Jennifer Herron Wilhelm (Arizona) and Daniel Herron (Maine), sons-in-law, Kurt Anders and Eric Robbins; seven grandchildren, Tyler Anders and his wife Marissa, Alyra Herron Donisvitch, Gavin Anders, Soren Herron Donisvitch, Isabella Baxter, Jeshua Donisvitch, and Sofia Herron Donisvitch; and two great-grandchildren, Callum and Evelyn Baxter. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald Herron, and her sister, Doreen Sanderson Cowger.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
