FAIRFIELD — A 76-year-old Oakland woman was taken to the hospital Sunday afternoon after she failed to yield at an intersection in Fairfield, causing a crash with a minivan, according to police.

Casey Dugas, public information officer for the Fairfield Police Department, said officers were dispatched just before 12:30 p.m., following the report of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Norridgewock and Ohio Hill roads.

Dugas, also the investigating officer at the scene of the crash, said Alayne Bacon was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse on Ohio Hill Road and failed to yield when crossing the Norridgewock Road, onto the Oakland Road.

“Her vehicle was struck by a 2017 Dodge Caravan that was traveling north on the Norridgewock Road,” Dugas said.

Liangtion Zhao, 33, of Brooklyn, New York, was driving the Caravan.

Bacon was taken to the hospital as a precaution following the crash, according to Dugas, who added no injuries were reported and no charges were expected.

Both vehicles were destroyed, Dugas said.
