As a new assistant attorney general in 2004, the office seemed large and the number of faces overwhelming. Until I met Marci. Marci Alexander was warm and welcoming and took the time to not only introduce me to the office, but to convince me to move to Augusta. (A choice for which I continue to be grateful!)

While I soon learned about Marci’s reputation as a phenomenal attorney, it was her warmth and patience with my questions that made the greatest impression. Through the years, I have had the good fortune to continue to interact with Marci even as we both moved on to careers outside the AG’s office. Our children sang together in Madrigals at Cony High School. And, of course, Marci never missed a Chizzle Wizzle performance.

Perhaps it is our “County connection” that gave us a natural ability to relate to one another. Marci grew up the “poor relation” on both sides of her family in Presque Isle and it was the public pool, the recreation department, the city swim area at the local lake, and the public library where she spent her childhood.

We see her commitment to similar places in Augusta as she has worked to keep our Bicentennial Nature Park, pools, playgrounds, Buker Community Center, and library open. Public access will always be important to Marci and I am so grateful.

Please join me in voting for Marci Alexander for mayor of Augusta this Nov. 2.
