Lisa T. Simm

MAYNARD, Mass. – Lisa T. Simm, 64, of Maynard, Mass., formerly of Waterville, passed away on Sept. 27, 2021 in Maynard from lung cancer. She was the beloved wife of John Mazzeo. Lisa was born in Boston on Jan. 14, 1957 to the late A. Glenn and Marion (Ogilvie) Simm. She grew up on Monument Street in Concord, Mass. with her siblings Glenn and Nancy. She graduated from Concord-Carlisle High School, where she was a majorette, and went on to attend Springfield College and eventually graduated from University of Rhode Island with a degree in Dietetics. She received her master’s degree from Framingham State University. She married her ever supportive and loving husband John in 1990, and the two raised their daughter Libby Mazzeo in Waterville. Lisa worked for years at Maine General Medical Center in Waterville, and was involved in the Waterville Rotary Club. More recently, Lisa and John moved back to Massachusetts to be closer to family where she worked in risk management for both Coverys in Boston and Emerson Hospital in Concord, Mass. She was a recipient of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management’s Fellowship Award, and was Treasurer and Board Member of the Northern New England Society of Healthcare Risk Management. Lisa was not only a hard worker and dedicated to her work, but she also filled every moment of free time she had, doing the things she loved. Lisa was an avid knitter and could always be found with knitting needles in hand working on her next project, many of which were gifts for those she loved. In the summers, she was happiest on the ocean and enjoyed many sunny summer days in Annisquam, Mass., where the Simm’s have kept their boats for years. She enjoyed running and yoga and was a dedicated friend of Bill W. She loved to travel and go on trips with her family and was always looking to plan the next vacation. She is survived by her loving husband, John E. Mazzeo of Maynard, Mass.; daughter, Dr. Elizabeth “Libby” Mazzeo of Portland; sister, Nancy Simm of Littleton, Mass. and brother, Glenn Simm of Bolton, Mass.She is predeceased by her father, A. Glenn Simm and Marion E. (Ogilvie) Simm, both of Concord, Mass. Family and friends will celebrate Lisa’s life during visiting hours on Monday, Oct. 4 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford St., Concord Center, Mass. She will be laid to rest on Tuesday, Oct. 5 during a private burial service at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Concord, Mass.
