GARDINER – Yvette Marie Richards, 88, of Augusta, died at MaineGeneral Medical Center on Oct. 3, 2021, after a brief illness. Yvette was born in Augusta on Aug. 6, 1933. She was the daughter of Joseph and Marie (Theriault) Lachance, the youngest of six children.Yvette attended Augusta schools and lived in Gardiner the past 40 years. She was employed by Cottle’s and Hannaford and enjoyed over 25 years of retirement. She took pride in keeping a beautiful home, cooking for family and friends, and dressing stylishly. Yvette’s warm personality drew people to her. In addition to her own cats, she cared for many neighborhood strays.She is survived by her son, Ron Poirier and his wife Holly of Gray; her sister, Marie Louise Lachance and brother, Emile Lachance of Augusta; several nieces and nephews; and her cat, Jennie.The family is grateful to Lauren and the staff at Terrance West Rehab at MGMC for the compassionate and respectful care they provided Yvette.A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021, at 11 a.m., at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, Maine.
