A free screening of the Lewiston-based documentary film, “The Intersection/Le Carrefour,” will be held from 7-9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16, in the Performance Hall of the Gendron Franco Center in Lewiston. The screening will include a lively Q&A featuring the filmmakers, primary characters of the film and community leaders. The film will be followed by a reception located in the Heritage Hall (beverages will be available for sale at the bar).

In the film by Jessamine Irwin and Daniel Quintanilla, past and present immigrant experiences intersect in Lewiston, when Franco-American retiree Cécile and Congolese asylum-seeker Trésor discover a sense of belonging thanks to their shared French language.

The film premiered in September 2021 at the 17th edition of the Camden International Film Festival. The project received the first ever Maine Heritage Film Grant by TV5 Monde/CIFF.

Due to COVID precautions, proof of full vaccinations will be required. Only 75% of capacity will be allowed in the Performance Hall. Audience members will be required to wear masks throughout the screening, Q&A and reception (except when eating or consuming beverages).
