Beverly Quimby Abbott Tibbetts

MADISON – Beverly Quimby Abbott Tibbetts, 91, passed away Oct. 6, 2021 at her home in Madison. She was born August 19, 1930 in Madison, the daughter of Cecil Amon and Ruth Grace (Dow) Quimby.

She attended grade schools and graduated from Madison High School at the age of 16 in 1947. She was employed at Ben Franklin Stores as a sales clerk. She met Clayton W. Abbott, her husband-to-be while he worked at the local First National Store. They were married in October 1949. They had four children, Robert L. Abbott, Jon C. Abbott, Bruce D. Abbott, and Susan Abbott Laney, who was very cherished. Clayton passed away in June 1967 from a car accident.

Beverly worked at the Madison School lunch program for eight years when she retired and married Richard Tibbetts and moved to Farmington to live on a farm, raising cows and sheep. Richard passed away in 2009. Beverly moved back to her hometown of Madison in 2019.

She enjoyed reading mystery murder books, jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, watching TV, knitting, crocheting, making sweaters, mittens and afghans that she gave to her family. After breaking her wrist, she had to stop knitting and crocheting, but took up latch-hooking and made many rugs. She loved to play cribbage with her family and also “63”.

Beverly is survived by her three sons and daughter; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Linda Quimby Smith of Yarmouth and Kathleen Quimby Johnson of Boothbay; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A special thank you to Sandra Bacon and hospice.

A private memorial service will be held at later date at the convenience of the family.
