I am writing in support of Mark O’Brien’s campaign for mayor of Augusta. I have known Mark since the O’Brien boys were using the booster seat at my barbershop on Memorial Circle and taking home a piece of gum at the end of a haircut.
Over the years I have watched O’Brien serve first on the school board and then on the City Council. I’ve been impressed with this thoughtful approach and his civil manner. He listens to all sides and comes to well-reasoned positions. He leads by example and has just the right temperament for the job.
He has earned the respect of his colleagues and city officials during his years of service to our community. In fact, O’Brien was presented with the key to the city of Augusta at his last council meeting “in grateful appreciation of his many contributions to his hometown.” We are fortunate that he is prepared and willing to serve again in a new role.
I urge you to join me in voting for Mark O’Brien for mayor of Augusta on Nov. 2.
