Richard Filmore Lake

FAIRFIELD – Richard Filmore Lake passed away peacefully on Oct. 13, 2021, with his family by his side at Maine General Medical Center in Augusta.

Born in Farmington on Sept. 6, 1954, Richard was the son of the Nathan Levi and Barbara Alice (Rollins) Lake. He attended Kennebec Valley Vocational Technical Center where he met the love of his life, Yvette Daigle. They married on October 19,1973.

Richard enlisted in the military and served with the United States Marine Corps from 1972-1975. He worked at Scott Paper from 1975 to 1998.

Through his life he enjoyed many hobbies including four wheeling, boating, fishing, camping, and snowmobiling. He especially enjoyed time with his family and sharing traveling adventures with his wife to places from the west coast to the east coast including, California, Tennessee, Yellowstone, Arizona, Colorado, and three different trips to Yellowstone.

Richard was always willing to lend a helping hand to those close to him. Over the years, the Golden Retriever’s he had in his life were very special to him.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Lendall Lake. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Yvette Lake; his sons, Richard Fillmore Lake II and his wife Erika and their children, Zachary Carey and his daughter, Elaina, Maverick Lake, Hayden Taylor, and Kasavyn Lake; Josiah Lake and his wife, Erin and their children, Justin Lake and Alyson Lake; his sisters, Nellie Rackliff and Rosemarie and her husband, Jimmy Gilbert; his brother, Tony Lake and his wife, Linda; his sister-in-law, Cindy Lake; and many nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to the medical staff on Terrace West of Maine General Medical Center, especially to nurse, Debbie Madore.

Per his request, a private interment will be held at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
