Joseph Don Speck

FARMINGDALE – It is with great sadness we announce that Joseph Don Speck of Farmingdale, Maine passed away on October 7, 2021, at the age of 51. He was born in Waterville, Maine, on Sept. 3, 1970, to George R. Speck Sr. and Grace F. Speck (Hawes). He graduated from Cony High School and worked at many jobs in the Augusta area before joining the Maine Army National Guard, HSC 133d ECB.

It was there he worked in logistics as a federal employee. He spent a year in Iraq with his unit in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. It was there he received the Army Commendation Medal for outstanding performance and tireless work ethic. His time in the military was a great source of pride for him.

Don was predeceased by his parents, sister, Barbara Daniels and brother, Dan Speck. He was a loving brother and survived by his sisters; Betty Everatt, Jane Speck, Pam Plemmons (Charles) and brothers; Alfred Speck and George Speck Jr., (Amy).

He is also survived by his nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly; Jessica, Melissa, Alan, George III, Timothy, Alex, Amanda ,Scott, Jesse and Israel.

Don had many friends. Too many to count but they were all important to him and with them they shared many laughs and good times over the years.

To name a few close ones: Donnie, Charlie, Dave, Damon, Bobby, Brad and Scott. A funeral service will be held on Oct. 25, 2021, 1 p.m., with full military honors at the VA Cemetery, Section J, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta, Maine. Following the ceremony, a celebration of life will be held at the VFW 887, Leighton Rd., Augusta, Maine.
