Robert C. Maxim

SABATTUS – Robert C. Maxim, Sr., 81, of Sabattus died peacefully Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021, at his home surrounded by family. He was born in Gardiner, the son of Clarence and Helena (Foster) Maxim. Bob grew up in Gardiner and graduated high school there. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1958-1962. When he retired from the Navy, he worked in various factories, Marcus Shoe and Footwear, Statler Tissue Co., and Knap Shoe. Later on, Bob worked as a cook for the Kennebec County Jail and Priscilla’s Dinner in Windsor. Bob had four children, Sherry, Robert, Kirk, and Marsha, with his first wife Jane (Paul) Maxim. He later married the love of his life, Audrey (Crab tree) Maxim and they spent their retirement years together doing what they loved.Bob had many hobbies such as ATVing, carpentry, stained glass, hunting, fishing, camping, and antiquing. His greatest passions in life were painting and cooking. Whenever you went to visit Bob, you could guarantee you would be served the most delicious meal and you could take a look at his most recent painting.The family would like to thank Mercedes and Randy from hospice for taking such wonderful care of Bob in his final months.He was predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Helena Maxim; son, Kirk Maxim; wife, Audrey Maxim; son-in-law, Christopher Truppa; siblings, Michael, Sirita, Betty, and Shirley.He is survived by his children, Sherry Truppa of New Hampshire, Robert Maxim Jr., of Wisconsin, and Marsha Graves and her partner Marcel DeForge of Sabattus; his grandchildren, Valerie Maxim, Thomas Maxim, Ryan Maxim, Haley Truppa and her husband Jordan Pelkey, Katie Truppa, Chase Graves, and Camden Graves; great-grandchildren, Gabriel Truppa and Danaca Truppa; siblings Debbie and Gerry.There will be no services at this time.Arrangements are by Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner, where condolences, memories and photos may be shared with the family on the obituary page of the funeral home website familyfirstfuneralhomes.com
