AUGUSTA – Gloria A. (Davis) Russell, 83, of Augusta died peacefully on Oct. 21, 2021 at the Alfond Center for Health after a brief illness.

She was born in Vassalboro on April 9, 1938, the daughter of Elden and Margaret (Pierce) Davis, but later raised by Guy and Kathryn Prince affectionately known as, “Ma and Guy” at the farm in Gray.

Gloria attended local schools for the first few years and then finished in Gray where she graduated top of her class at the Pennell Institute. She then worked for the State of Maine as a tax examiner until her retirement.

On Oct. 23, 1959, Gloria married her husband, Gerald “Buddy” Russell. Together they had two sons, Kirk and Kevin. They raised their boys in China and Augusta and then settled in Windsor later in life.

Her favorite thing to do was spoil her grandchildren and she was good at it. She was our family encyclopedia, finder of all the best baked recipes and the glue that held everything together for many years. She was detail oriented which could be seen from her immaculate home down to the special cards that always arrived the day before any event.

Gloria was predeceased by her husband, Buddy, with whom she made it home to for their 63rd anniversary; their wonderful son, Kirk; her biological parents, honorary parents; a half-brother and honorary brother.

She leaves behind her son, Kevin of Oakland, his daughter Kristen and her four children; Kirk’s children Deidrah and her three children, Jamie and her two children, Stacey, and her daughter, and one grandson, Joshua; several half-brothers, two half-sisters; many nieces and nephews; and a few very close friends who made her last few years special.

At her request, there will be no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held at Chadwick Hill Cemetery, China, on Oct. 30 at 11 a.m.

Arrangements are under the care of Plummer Funeral Home, 983 Ridge Rd., Route 32, Windsor.
