Sandie Lee Dunn

GULFPORT, Miss. – Sandra “Sandie” Allison Dunn passed away gently and peacefully on Oct. 7, 2021 in Gulfport, Miss.

Sandie was born in Peoria, Ill., the first born to Lt. Col. Donald F. (USAF) and Shirley J. Allison. Growing up as a military child, Sandie lived in many places and attended schools from California to Maine as well as Bermuda. Sandie graduated from Warner Robins High School in Warner Robins, Ga.

Sandie lived in Augusta where she raised her two sons, Todd and Chad. She had a successful career with Maine Central Power Company for many years working in a number of its different departments. Upon retirement, she relocated to Navarre, Fla. to be near her family. Always needing to be industrious and productive, Sandie became the office manager for Ferry and Ferry Law Firm in Pensacola, Fla., enjoying and loving both her new job and her three grandchildren. She moved once again to Ocean Springs, Miss. and assumed the responsibilities as the manager of the Home Owner’s Association for the Villas at Legacy Condominium Community in Gulfport, Miss., where during an 11-year period, she made many wonderful friends, resolved numerous management issues, improved the association’s fiscal posture, and had many memorable moments. In all of her work and throughout her career, Sandie had a reputation for being honest, forthright, fair, dependable, and as the “one who never broke the rules”. She valued and demonstrated unquestionable integrity and would say “Integrity is what you do when no one is watching.”

Sandie was a master with the crochet hooks and produced countless beautiful comforters for friends and family. Sandie was also an avid reader and was rarely without her tablet. She loved John Grisham, read his complete works, and would complete his and other favored authors in a sitting! She loved to kayak on the many lakes and rivers in Maine, could water ski tirelessly and effortlessly, and climbed Mount Katahdin, a true “five boot” experience. Above all though, Sandie loved her family. Throughout her life, she would travel miles to watch her children or grandchildren participate or compete in athletic events or the performing arts regardless of time or distance. Sandie also enjoyed traveling, spending many vacations with either her friends or family going to Texas, Colorado, and Nevada. Sandie was a true friend to many and loved all of the time she shared with each of them. She will be missed so very much by all of whom she meant so much to.

Sandie was preceded in death by her grandmother, Mrs. D.W. Allison; her parents, Lt. Col. Donald F. Allison and Shirley J. Allison; her bother, retired SSG. Donald R. Allison, USA; her nephew, Garrett D. Batron; and her favorite uncle, retired Lt. Col. Herbert Allison, USAF.

Sandie is survived by her sons Chad Dunn and spouse, G. Wall of Kissimmee, Fla.; Todd Dunn and daughter-in-law, Stacy Dunn and their children, Lexie, Zachary, and Kylie of Ocean Springs, Miss.; her sister, Linda A. Batron and brother-in-law, retired LTC Arthur D. Batron of Gulfport, Miss., her sister, Patti Allison of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., her brother, David Allison of Navarre, Fla.; her niece, Allison. B. Allen and her husband, retired Major Robert Allen and their children, Aileen and Lyres, of Evansville, Ind.; and niece, Katie Mae Allison of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.

A celebration of life for Sandie will be announced and conducted at later date.
