Edgar James McCarthy

EMBDEN – Edgar James McCarthy, 81, passed away very peacefully Oct. 16, 2021 at Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan with his daughter, Terry, Jackie and Rebecca by his side. He joined his late wife, Carolyn Frost McCarthy. He was born July 10, 1940 in Skowhegan, the son of Lewis and Adelia (Terry) McCarthy.

He sure did earn his angel wings. He was the best dementia patient a daughter could ask for. He will always be my hero!! He was an extremely kind man, who helped everyone. He loved his family and friends. He owned and operated E.J. McCarthy and Grandsons, a lumbering and construction company. He had also been employed by Roger Wyman Lumbering, H. E. Sargent (best bulldozer operator in the state!!), and Sam White, plowing and construction. He loved this work.

Edgar was a member of the Masons, Elks, VFW, Eagles Club, Moose (Florida). He loved Pastor George Finnermore. He enjoyed Nascar, hunting, fishing, Fox News, and he loved to reminisce about his life and loved one. He loved to have gatherings with family and friends.

He is survived by daughters, Terry Bishop and husband Christopher of Embden, Dolores Foster and husband Wayne of Clifton, Marlene McCarthy and significant other Norris “Buddy” of Madison, Crystal Comeau of Anson; grandchildren, Edgar Lancaster of Embden, Timothy Lancaster and wife Jamie of Embden, Todd Foster and wife Kate of Eddington, Marcus Moody of Skowhegan, Michelle Moody and husband Casey of Madison, Casey Comeau and husband Cory of Cornville; great-grandchildren, Zackery Lancaster and wife Olivia of Embden, Damion, Eli, Korby, Kamron, Alexis, Emma, Bristol, Lilly, Lucy, Carley; great nephews, very special to him, Lane and Sawyer Frost; in-laws, Doug Emmons and wife Carmaline of Norridgewock, Carroll Nightingale and wife Colette of Skowhegan, Frank Frost and wife Debbie of Embden, Jack Frost and wife Robin of Anson; many nieces and nephews; best friend/brothers, Joseph Cloutier and wife Susan and family, Mark Brouchu and wife Carol and family, Roy Gallant, Jr. and wife April and family, Al McCarthy and family, Robert Gordan and family. He loved each and everyone.

He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Edwin McCarthy (Eva), Earnest McCarthy Verna); sisters, Loraine Gallant (Roy), Elinor Dubois (Wilfred).

The family would like to thank Wendy Dicranian and the office staff, Redington-Fairview General Hospital SCU and Med/Surge, and ER staff for taking such good care of my dad and the family. Special thank you to Rebecca Stubbs, who was with us every step of the way. Thank you to family and friends who said their good-byes and all the prayers, and support. A special thank you to Chris Bishop, Eddie Lancaster and family, Tim, Jamie Lancaster and family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
