Fernand J. Duval

WATERVILLE – Fernand J. Duval, 87, passed away after a courageous battle at Oak Grove Nursing Home on Oct. 21, 2021. Fernand was born on Nov. 13, 1933, in Fairfield, the son of Joseph and Sylvane Duval.

Fernand worked filling vending machines for Fredā€™s Vending. He attended Notre Dame Catholic Church through out the years. Fernand enjoyed listening to old country music on his records. He and his wife Francine were part of the Heart of Maine Square Dancing Club. He also enjoyed taking Francine on dates to different fast-food restaurants. After his retirement he and Francine enjoyed going to Bingo one or two times a week.

Fernand was predeceased by his parents, father-in-law, Francis LaBrecque; and a brother Raymond Duval and his wife Anne, and daughter, Brenda Paquet. Fernand is survived by his wife of 36 years, Francine, son, John Duval and Joanne of Biddeford; daughters, Diane Paquette and Jeff of Durham, N.H., Melissa Duval of Scarborough; mother-in-law, Sandra LaBrecque; son-in-law; Scott Paquet; brothers-in-law, Paul LaBrecque and Jane of Winslow, Ronald LaBrecque and Nancy of Albion; daughters-in-law, Janelle LeBreton and Gary of Winslow, Patrice Clarke and Rick of Moncks Corner, S.C.; his five grandchildren, Marc, Stephanie, Courtney, Elizabeth, and Hanna; three great grandchildren, Alec, Luc, and Lea; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30 at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 116 Silver Street, Waterville. Following the Mass, a burial will be held in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, 78 Grove Street, Waterville. A reception will be held in the Notre Dame Catholic Church Hall after the burial has taken place. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm Street, Waterville.
