AUGUSTA – Rita L. Godbout, 81, of Outlet Road, died Oct. 21, 2021 at her home after a brief illness.

She was born on July 28, 1940 in Augusta, the daughter of O’Neil Douin and Lucille (Royer) Douin.

She married Gerard Godbout on August 3, 1963. Mrs. Godbout was educated in Augusta schools and was a daycare provider for many years. She loved all the children she watched throughout her years of having a daycare. Rita also worked at Taylor Shoe Co. and Hazzard Shoe Co.

She was predeceased by her husband, Gerard Godbout; and two brothers, Leo and Clem Douin.

Surviving are four sons, Kenneth Godbout, David Godbout, Rick Godbout and Bruce Godbout and his wife Ashley, one daughter, Melissa Baker and her husband Steve; nine grandchildren, Kasey, Travis, Ashley, Lindsey, Taylor, Isaac, Meghan, Seth and Olivia; two great-grandchildren, Chelsea and McKenzie; one sister, Lorraine Freeman, one brother, Paul Douin; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no public visiting hours. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Friday Oct. 29, 2021 at St. Augustine Church, Northern Ave., Augusta. A gathering of family and friends will be at 50 Outlet Rd., Augusta following the mass.
