Linda J. Lawrence

PITTSTON – Linda J. Lawrence, 80, of Pittston, passed away peacefully surrounded by her seven children, on Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021.

She was born at the farmhouse she was raised in on May 22, 1941, the daughter of Ada Francis Davis.

Linda attended the one room schoolhouse in the village. She worked in the restaurant industry her whole life, some of her memorable places where, the Wharf, Howard Johnsons, the Elks Lodge and many more. Linda was a member of the Gardiner Elks Lodge for many years, a longtime member of American Legion in Augusta, over the years she met and became friends with so many people from these places.

She loved her family gatherings at the farmhouse, where there was always enough food cooked for the neighborhood, she loved to cook. Linda loved the holidays, decorating and having her family around. She enjoyed all of her 90 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was so proud of them all and loved watching all of their sporting events, whether it was watching her kids coach or watching them play, she was a true Gardiner fan. Linda also enjoyed eating out, going to the ocean, traveling to warm places and loved visiting her best friend of 18 years, Jessie, who she loved so much. She loved flowers, tending her gardens and plants.

Linda will be sadly missed by so many, her smile, spirit, and the love she gave everyone will never be forgotten.

She was predeceased by her mother; brother, Ronnie Davis, two sisters-in-law, Shirley and Jean Davis, and brother-in-law, Gerald Dolley.

Linda is survived by her seven children, Jeanne Moody and husband Ronnie, Deborah Ashline, Darlene Lawrence and partner, Gary Moody, Denise Judy Dutton and husband Jason, Charles Lawrence Jr. and wife Lisa, Chris Lawrence and partner Phil Latini, and Jen Burns and husband Ryan; companion of 19 years, Jessie Ricks; five siblings, Arthur Davis, David Davis, Dixie Dolley, Diane Werber, and Kathy Haskell.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, Nov. 1, from 12 to 1 p.m. at the East Pittston United Methodist Church, 1083 East Pittston Rd., Pittston, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., followed by burial at the Putnam Cemetery in Pittston.
