Theresa Anne (St. Peter) Murphy

GARDINER – Always known as “Anne”, she was born Feb. 6, 1937 to Patrick and Laura Paradis St. Peter in Caribou.

She graduated from Caribou High School in 1954 and was a proud graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, Portland, in 1957.

In 1958, she married James Murphy, a high school classmate; together they had five children.

After a long nursing career, working in several Maine hospitals, she ended her work life as Vice-President of Nursing at Kennebec Valley Medical Center.

Anne especially enjoyed time with family, her children, grandchildren, and siblings in “the county” and was grateful for all of them.

She was predeceased by her parents; her son, Mark Andrew; brothers Donald St. Peter and Paul St. Peter.

She is survived by her husband of 63-plus years, James; sons James Jr. and his wife Judy, Matthew and his wife Paula, daughters Sharon Drossel and Brenda; and seven grandchildren, Jacquelyn Murphy and her husband Jeremy Binette, Joseph Murphy, Elizabeth and her husband Jacob Wight, Samuel Vogel, Mark Vogel, Jillian Drossel, and Katherine Drossel; also two great-great grandchildren, Sagan Binette and Owen Wight. Also surviving are three brothers and their wives, Philip and Janice St. Peter, David and Vicki St. Peter, and Alan and Kathy St. Peter all of Caribou, two sisters, Patricia Curry of Leland, N.C. and Claire Randolph of Caribou; and many nieces and nephews.

Private visiting hours will be held Friday evening, Oct. 29 at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church in Gardiner on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 11 a.m. and a burial will be held at a later date at the Holy Rosary Cemetery in Caribou.
