Evelyn T. Chaplin

HALLOWELL – Evelyn T. Chaplin, 88, formerly of Chelsea, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2021, at Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice in Auburn, following a long illness. She was born in Madawaska on Jan. 13, 1933, a daughter of the late Jean M. and D. Helene (Cote) Soucy.

Mrs. Chaplin was a 1951 graduate of Cony High School and was a communicant of St. Michael Parish.

Prior to her retirement, she was manager for the State of Maine, Department of Disabliity Determinations.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy M. Chaplin Jr.; and eight brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Chaplin is survived by one daughter, Julie A. Dana of Monmouth, one son, Jeffrey Chaplin of Chelsea; six grandchildren, Jacob Dana, Kaitlyn Paulette, Nicole Chaplin, Renee Chaplin, Tara Dana and Julie Ann Dana; eight great-grandchildren, Anthony Paulette, Abigail Dana, Owen Flanagan, Alexandra Flanagan, Bailee Roes, Nicholaus Roes, Eli Chaplin and Nora Chaplin; several nieces and nephews.

At her request, there will be no public visiting hours. A graveside committal service will be held in the spring in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Manchester.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta.
