Mary D. West

SKOWHEGAN – It is with great sadness that the family of Mary D. West, 84, announces her passing on Oct. 30, 2021, in Skowhegan.

Mary was born on Jan. 8, 1937, in Skowhegan. The daughter of Kenneth and Margaret (Conant) Dickinson, Mary grew up a true New England girl, living in Maine, Connecticut, and Massachusetts before moving to California with her family in 1954. Mary graduated from Orange Coast College, in Costa Mesa, Calif. with an associate’s degree in business.

Mary started out her career as a Keypunch Operator for Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach, Calif. She quickly worked her way up to being one of the first woman Computer Software Programmers in the 1960s. She then became a Systems Analyst for one of the leading pediatric hospitals in California. She managed hundreds of employees for over four decades. Mary met and married Robert McNulty in 1956. The couple raised three children in their home in Costa Mesa, Calif. After Robert’s passing, Mary married longtime friend, Jack West.

After retiring in 2002, Mary and Jack bought a farm near her family’s estate in Norridgewock. Mary and Jack enjoyed driving, often visiting family and friends all over the country. She was a collector of Disney memorabilia and enjoyed spending time with her friend, Madalyn.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, of Norridgewock.

She is survived by her sister, Frances Obine, and her husband James, of Wolcott, N.Y.; her son, Kevin McNulty, of Covia, Calif., her daughter, Kathy Vasquez and her husband Dennis, of Hemet, Calif., her son, Michael McNulty, of Honolulu; two grandsons, “Capt.” Maxwell Matthewson and his wife Jess, of Guyton, Ga., and Phillip Vasquez, of Hemet, Calif.; her great-grandson, CJ Matthewson of Guyton, Ga., her great-granddaughter, Harper Matthewson, of Guyton, Ga.; cousin, Marilyn Sirois of Skowhegan and cousin, Valerie Sirois, of Norridgewock.
