AUGUSTA — The Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce plans to host a Women’s Network Luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, at the Augusta Civic Center, 76 Community Drive.
Amy Marston of Central Maine Power is to present “Setbacks and Springboards, A Journey Through Leadership.”
Tickets for the event are $30 for the public and $20 for Chamber members.
The Chamber’s Women’s Network meets monthly to strengthen business relationships, hear topical speakers, and develop leadership.
Marston, at the age of 19, heartbroken after receiving a rejection letter from the college she most wanted to attend, walked into a local staffing agency looking for work as she figured out a plan “B.”
With basic typing skills, a high school diploma, and a strong worth ethic, she was placed in a 30-day assignment with CMP. Little did she know, she would spend the next 21 years there, earning two college degrees while working her way up the corporate ladder, starting as an associate in payment processing to now manager of public affairs.
Her journey thus far has been a series of setbacks and springboards; she credits her success to mentors who invested in her, a passion for the electric utility industry, and an unwavering drive for success.
