Glenys W. Berry

MADISON – Glenys W. Berry, 100, passed away peacefully November 7, 2021 at Sunset Residential Home in Waterville. Glenys was born at home August 7, 1921 to Lee and Valeria (Soper) Ware. In 1932, her family moved to North Livermore where she met her future husband, Ronald Berry. Glenys graduated with honors from Livermore Falls High School in 1939. She and Ronald were married in November 13, 1942 at North Livermore Baptist Church. In 1953, Glenys and Ronald moved their family to Madison where they owned Berry Orchards for many years. They were the proud parents of four active boys who may have, at times, needed taming. Glenys was very active in the Maine Farm Bureau, Madison Baptist Church, and the Republican Party. She also worked for over 15 years in the kitchen at the Skowhegan Art School. In 1972, Glenys was elected to the Maine State Legislature, a position she held for 6 years. She then went on to serve Somerset County as Registrar of Probate for 4 years. Upon “retirement”, Ron and Glenys managed sporting camps at King and Bartlett in Eustis and Kennebago Camps in Rangeley. They were both also very involved in the inception and fellowship of Crossroads Bible Church. Glenys is predeceased in death by her husband, Ronald and her son, Ransom, her granddaughter, Amanda, sister Annie Ware, brothers Lloyd Ware and Kenneth and Cynthia Ware and nephew, Stephen Ware. Glenys is survived by her sons, Dana and wife Gloria of Madison, Vassar and his wife Kay of Fort Pierce, FL and Scott and his wife Patricia of Madison; her 4 grandchildren, Marty and wife Beth, Lisa and husband Lon, Elizabeth and Casey, 11 great grandchildren, 4 great great grand children with one more on the way. She is also survived by her brother Lee Ware Jr and his wife, Elsie of Augusta, brother-in-law Carlton and his wife Diane of North Livermore. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Sunset Homes and their loving staff for the exceptional care Mother received during her entire stay. We would also like to express our appreciation to Beacon Hospice for the loving care Mother received during her last days. A private family service will be held at a later date.
