BINGHAM — Robert Allan Chasse, 65, a lifelong resident of Bingham, passed away Nov. 7, 2021, at Inland Hospital in Waterville, following a long illness.
larence and Yvette (Brochu) Chasse celebrated their 8th wedding anniversary on Jan. 24, 1956 with the birth of their son Robert. He was born at Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan.
Robert was raised in Bingham and attended local schools. He was a graduating member of the “Class of 1975” at Valley High School. He remained a loyal supporter of the Cavaliers’ sports teams throughout his life.
Robert was a lifelong resident of Maine and enjoyed the great outdoors – he was an avid snowmobiler in winters and frequent four-wheeler in summers. He had many friends and relatives living in the Bingham area and he made it a point to be there for anyone in need. Robert had a strong sense of community and contributed his time as a volunteer whenever called on to help. He served over three decades as a volunteer member of the Bingham Fire Department.
Robert was predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Yvette, a brother, Patrick Chasse, and a sister-in-law, Paciencia (Paz) Tiglao-Chasse. He is survived by a brother, William Chasse and his partner, Dante Jerlich, of San Francisco, a nephew, Mark Chasse, of New York, a niece, Michelle Chasse-Jones and her husband, Michael Jones, of Oklahoma City, and great nieces and nephews, Marcus & Maliah Jones of Oklahoma City, and Jack & Madeleine Chasse of Paris, France. He is also survived by a paternal aunt, Lucille (Chasse) Andrews of Skowhegan, and many cousins and friends.
The family would like to express its deepest gratitude and heart-felt appreciation to Bob Hanscom, whose friendship, compassion, and self-less dedication have left us forever grateful.
A memorial service for Robert is being planned for a future date. The Chasse family will announce the details as soon as they are finalized.
