John F. Paradis

SMITHFIELD – John F. Paradis, 66, passed away Nov. 7, 2021, at MaineGeneral Hospital in Augusta. He was born May 23, 1955. in Waterville, the son of Francis J. and Geraldine R. (Collins) Paradis.

He graduated from Waterville High School in 1973. On October 17, 1981, he married Fawn Jones in Bucksport. He was employed by MaineGeneral Medical Center from 1972 to 2017 in the transportation department and medical records. He was a member of the bands Changing Winds and Moonlight Duo. He was the lead guitar player in The Universal Gravy Band. John coached ice hockey for 10 years starting with Skowhegan Youth and moving to Winslow girl’s ice hockey and finally Skowhegan Girls ice hockey. He was a member of the Fairview Grange of Smithfield and performed in the Leap Year celebration in 2020.

John is survived by his wife of 40 years, Fawn Paradis of Smithfield; son, Nicholas Paradis and wife Iryna of Issaquah, Wash.; daughters, Laura Souliere and husband Tom of Madison, Katherine Nozawa and husband Tomifume of Yahaba, Iwate, Japan; grandchildren, Shunsei Nozawa of Japan, Cameron and Patrick Souliere both of Madison. A brother, Donald Paradis and his wife Rachel of Winslow, their children and their families.

A Celebration of life is to be held at the Smithfield Baptist Church on Saturday the 13th of November at 1 p.m.
