James W. Foley wrote these lines:

“Drop a pebble in the water: just a splash, and it is gone;

But there’s half-a-hundred ripples circling on and on and on,

Spreading, spreading from the center, flowing on out to the sea.

And there is no way of telling where the end is going to be.”

Ripples from a falling pebble radiate out from the point of impact. We do not know how far out those points of contact reach. Nevertheless, we can accept as fact that the ripples from our lives touch people we know and people we shall never meet.

There is a picture of a young Bill Clinton shaking hands with President John F. Kennedy on July 24, 1963; ripples from a pebble. There is only one picture capturing the historic meeting between the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X, on March 10 1964; ripples from a pebble.

We all live lives that make ripples. Raise your awareness to the ripples you make in the world.
