Raymond Morrison

AUGUSTA – It is with great celebration and much sadness that we share with you Raymond Morrison, 92, passed peacefully Nov. 14, 2021, from natural causes.

Ray was born in Oakfield, Maine on Sept. 28, 1929 to Lillian (Perkins) Morrison and Kelcy Morrison. He graduated from Oakfield High School. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Okinawa during the Korean War. He was a dedicated worker at whatever job he held. Ray worked in the woods logging with his family at the age of 8 years old, picked potatoes, and helped construct the Maine State House. However, he was most proud of his 40 year career as a foreman in road construction. Driving around, he would say, “I paved this road!”

He was an avid reader, loved to dance, listen to big band music, watch sports, and socialize with family and friends.

Ray is survived by his daughter, Sharalyn (Sherry) Morrison-Andrews and husband, David and his son, Michael Morrison and partner, Kelsie French; his two grandchildren, Jesse Morrison and Dylan Morrison and his wife, Kara; and his great-grandson, who he was so proud of, Lincoln Morrison.

Ray was predeceased by his wife Beatrice McCall Morrison; his parents; and siblings Delmas Morrison, Margaret Saucier, Rose Buckmore, Arlene Michaud, Kelcy Morrison and Robert Morrison.

The family would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to the caring staff at Captain Lewis Residence and the wonderful staff of Beacon Hospice.

There will be a private family graveside service.

Arrangements are in the care of Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home and Cremation Care, One Church Street, Augusta where memories and condolences may be shared with the family at http://www.khrfuneralhomes.com

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation made to Beacon Hospice. Please make the check payable to the Amedisys Foundation
