David L. Bumford

AUGUSTA – David L. Bumford passed away Thursday, Nov. 18, 2021, after a battle with Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease. He was born on Aug. 6, 1952, to Pauline Bumford and Morris Fish in Augusta.

He grew up in Hallowell and was educated in Hallowell Schools.

David worked for the Hallowell Cemetery for many years with a co-worker he became very good friends with Carroll Chapman. Also, he worked for Service Master and then started his own cleaning business with his wife called David and Elaine’s Cleaning Service for 20 years until retiring.

David had a very special bond with his grandson, Logan. David also liked riding his motorcycle and taking car rides. He truly was an amazing man and will be greatly missed. His love for his family knew no bounds.

David was predeceased by his parents; sisters: Donna, Susan Bumford and Ann LaVallee; brothers: Bobby, Michael and Wayne and mother-in-law, Marianne Brown.

David is survived by his wife of 31 years, Elaine Bumford; sons: David Bumford and his wife Ana and Phil Gallant and his fiancée Stacy; daughters: Melissa Gallant and Chrissy Peaslee and her husband David; grandchildren: Amy Bumford, Logan Mercer, Reese Gallant, Jordan Peaslee, Abigail Peaslee and Zachary Peaslee; sister, Paula Welton; brother, Larry Bumford; brother-in-law, Blaine Brown, Jr. and father-in-law, Blaine Brown, Sr. as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to thank all the nurses on 2 West at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta who cared for David over the past year. Your amazing care for David didn’t go unnoticed.

Relatives and friends are invited to a graveside service on Monday, Nov. 29, at 2 p.m., at Holy Family Cemetery, Townsend Road, Augusta.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, ME.
