UNION — Vose Library’s “Vose or Virtual Wednesday Series” is scheduled next to feature Gary Chapin and Carisa Corrow, to discuss their co-creation of the book “126 Falsehoods We Believe About Education.”

The event is is to be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, via Zoom.

Chapin has been working in education since 2000, first as a ninth grade social studies teacher in central Maine, then as a curriculum director, then as a Department of Education researcher. Most recently, for nearly 10 years, he has been a consultant, advocate and supporter of equity-based practices such as competency-based learning, performance assessment, adaptive leadership, and collaborative cultures.

He is fascinated by questions like, what should kids learn? How do we decide what kids should learn? How do we learn what they learned? How can learning what they learned help them learn more?

Corrow spent 14 years as a public school teacher in New Hampshire before becoming a consultant with the Center for Collaborative Education, working with educators to examine their learning and assessment systems.

In 2020, she started Educating for Good with a mission to help schools create systems that work for learners and the community, with the ultimate vision for a just and equitable world. She is actively involved in Concord Showing Up for Racial Justice, and she volunteers at a soup kitchen and tutors.
