AUGUSTA – Austin “Jay” Charles Hatch Jr. passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2021 at Maine General Medical Center in Augusta after a short illness. He was 64 years old.

Jay was born the only child of Austin and Alice Hatch on Dec. 23, 1956. He lived in the Pittston/Gardiner area much of his life, before moving to his home in Augusta. Jay was a kind soul, blessed with many friends, and brought a bright light into the lives of all who knew him.

Jay also attended Goodwill Day Program for many years, where he enjoyed spending time with his favorite staff, Courtney, as well as many other staff and friends.

Jay was a fun- loving man who brought joy and laughter to all. Staff and peers enjoyed his unique sense of humor, smile, one of a kind laugh and bright blue eyes. Jay loved to attend Pine Tree Camp, and daily trips to get the newspaper and iced coffee with his friend Julie. Jay also enjoyed get togethers, dressing up for Halloween, watching game shows and Captain Kangaroo.

Jay’s ashes were interred at Hallowell Cemetery, Hallowell, on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2021.

Gone, but not forgotten, he will be missed by many.
