James Robert Whitehouse

WINTHROP – James “Jim” Robert Whitehouse, 71, died unexpectantly on Saturday, Nov. 27, 2021. Our family is devastated.

Jim was born on Jan. 31, 1950 in Killeen, Texas (where his dad was stationed at Fort Hood) to Janette (Arnold) and Robert Whitehouse. He attended Augusta schools and graduated from Cony High School, Class of 1968.

Being the free spirit, hippie dude he was, he traveled across the country to California after graduation. We can’t tell those stories. He eventually returned to Maine to be near his family.

He was also very artistic which a lot of people didn’t know. He could build anything. He also loved music, the oldies, having attended numerous concerts in his travels. He loved to read, as well as watch historical movies and loved to ride his motorcycle.

He worked for over 30 years at Dow Roofing as a foreman and then on to LaPointe Lumber. In recent years, he enjoyed doing odd jobs and helping friends and family. He was the go-to guy at his apartment complex on High Street in Winthrop.

Jim always had a story to tell and talk. Man, he could talk. He always kept us amused. You considered yourself lucky if you sat next to Uncle Jim on holidays. He truly loved his family.

He was predeceased by his parents, Janette and Robert Whitehouse; and grandmother Helen Whitehouse Papsin.

He is survived by his daughter, Jessica Lunt and husband Jason; grandson, Justin; brother John and wife Rose (their children Pamela, Adam and fiancé Hilary Baker, Matthew and partner Jessica St. Amand); brother Tim and wife Sonia Whitehouse; Jeanne Kelly Whitehouse, mother of his daughter; stepmother Margaret Whitehouse, and her three children Kathy, Debbie and Michael McDougal; special cousins Arlene and Gail Arnold; wife Shirley Whitehouse of Arizona and her children; great niece Harper, great nephews, Aiden and Jaxon Whitehouse.

A celebration of life and burial will be later in the spring of 2022.

Arrangements are in the care of Roberts Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 62 Bowdoin Street, Winthrop, where memories, condolences and photos may be shared with the family on the obituary page of our website at http://www.familyfirstfh.com
