Sandra Lois Humphrey Carson

TAMPA, Fla. – Sandra Lois Humphrey Carson, 87, of Tampa, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2021. She was born in Waterville, Maine on February 15, 1934, the daughter of Donald F. Humphrey and Erma C. Davis Humphrey Coffin of Pittsfield, Maine.

Sandra graduated from Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield and also received a BA degree in sociology from the University of Maine in Orono, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority.

Sandra was predeceased by her daughter, Deborah Susanne Carson. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Harold E. “Kit” Carson, of Tampa, Florida, a sister-in-law, Patricia Carson Crowe and her husband, Guss W. Crowe, of Pasadena, California.

For the past 41 years, Sandra lived in Tampa, Florida where her husband retired from the Air Force in 1985. Since 1981, she was an active member of St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital Auxiliary for over 40 years, and held several offices in that organization. At the time of her death, Sandra had accumulated more than 37,000 volunteer hours. Many lasting friendships developed during her time there.

In accordance with Sandra’s wishes, there will be no services. Her cremains will be inurned with her husband’s in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.
