AUGUSTA – Germaine D. Roy, 83, passed away on Dec. 7, 2021, at the hospital in Augusta. She was born on Aug. 22, 1938, in Augusta, a daughter of Leonel C. and Irene (Lajoie) Dumont.

Germaine, nicknamed “Geri”, grew up in the Augusta area and held a variety of jobs including a healthcare worker at AMHI, working in the bakery department at Shaw’s, a ship fitter at Bath Iron Works, and her last (and current) job as a school bus driver for RSU 2 Hall-Dale school system for over 20 years. Her students enjoyed having Geri as their bus driver and she enjoyed giving treats to the kids during holidays and even baked a few cakes for some families on her bus route during Christmas.

Geri loved her children and it was a joy of hers to cook for them over the years. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, spending time with her beloved cats (especially Lucky 2), and was famous for her baked goods. She was a devoted member of the Kennebec Valley Assembly of God where she volunteered countless hours cooking for church events.

She was predeceased by her parents, as well as siblings, Lorraine Cummings, Jeannine Dostie, Norman Dumont, and Richard Daryl Dumont. Geri is survived by her children, Monique Roy, Michelle Roy, Danielle Roderick and her partner James Savage, Dominique Roy, Nicole Cushing, Rochelle Roy and her partner Tony Vawter, and Eugene Roy and his wife Shelley; grandchildren, Heather (Nevels) Smith and her husband Jonathan Smith, Olivia Roy, Ashton Roy, Dawn Portier and her partner Morgan MacFarland, Jessica Ruiz and her husband Alexander, Carla Disedare and her partner Kevin Gaudet, Paula Disedare, Erica Roderick and her partner Damen Gowins, Blake Roy and his wife Jennifer, Brittany Sharpe, Kera Huff and her husband Jarrod Sullivan, Tanisha Cushing and her partner Nick Kesaris, John-David Cushing and his partner, Shealeigh Hill, Nathan Cushing, Emma-Leigh Cushing and her partner Joseph Albert, Shane Smith and his wife Krista, Jaclyn Fuller and her husband Benjamin, and Kyle Smith; great grandchildren, Jennifer, Delaney, Gavin, Dawson, Enoch, Arwyn, Leonidas, Odette, Riley, Rhys, Isla, Adeline, Ryan, Lindsey, Michelle, Brandon, Katiesha, Michaela, Benjamin, Emmanuel, Haylee, Bjorn, Norah, Calob, Logan, Elliot, Trent, Emersyn, Quinn, Sebastian, and Felix; two great grandchildren, Sawyer and Landon; siblings. Leonel C. Dumont Jr., Annette Mason and her husband Howard, and Paul Dumont and his wife, Marianne; as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and nurses at the Alfond Center for Health for the care they provided Geri.

A period of visitation will be held on Monday, December 13, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, ME 04330. A service and burial will take place in the spring. Condolences, stories and photos may be shared at http://www.plummerfh.com.
