PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – Phyllis J. Stonier, 88, of Tioga Lane, Plattsburgh, N.Y., passed away on Thursday, Dec. 9, 2021, at UVHN:CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Gardiner, Maine on March 12, 1933, the daughter of Harold and Elizabeth (McGrath) Fabrizi.

Phyllis graduated from Cony High School in Augusta, Maine in 1951. She married Richard W. Stonier, Sr. in Maine in 1957. Phyllis and Richard arrived in Plattsburgh with the U.S. Air Force in 1962 while Richard was stationed at Plattsburgh Air Force Base. She graduated from Clinton Community College in 1980 with a nursing degree. She began her nursing career at Elizabethtown Hospital and later worked at Meadowbrook Health Care in Plattsburgh. Phyllis enjoyed gardening, painting and she bred English Bulldogs. She was predeceased by her husband SMSgt. Richard W. Stonier and a daughter Betty Anne Pelkey. She is survived by her children: Richard Stonier Jr. of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; CW03 Harold Stonier of Chino Hills, CA; Petty Officer 2nd Class Mary (Brad) Scott of Gathersburg, Md.; Pvt. Michael (Kari) Stonier of Altona, N.Y.; Lt. Col. Andrea Cornett of Dixon, Calif.; Melissa (Sgt. Shaun) Woodbury of Peachtree, Ga.; and Evelyn (Staff Sgt. Patrick) McGrady of Richmond, Va. and 19 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Calling hours will be Monday, December 13 from 10 to 11 a.m., at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh with a funeral service following at 11 a.m., in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Burial to follow at St. Mary’s of the Lake Cemetery.
