I grew up in Waterville and attended the George J. Mitchell School. Growing up, we heard all about Mitchell, and many of us found inspiration in his rise from humble beginnings to influential and philanthropic senator and diplomat.
As an undergraduate I attended the University of Maine, where I was fortunate to receive the George J. Mitchell Peace Scholarship, which funded a semester of study abroad in Ireland. It was the opportunity of a lifetime.
George J. Mitchell is on the Epstein flight logs and CNN has reported that Epstein’s former pilot identified Mitchell as a frequent flyer. There is only one reason I can think of why someone would be close friends and travel frequently with Jeffrey Epstein. George Mitchell’s name should not adorn an elementary school.
