Roger K. Whittier

TOGUS – Roger K. Whittier, 74, a resident of Monmouth, passed away on Monday Dec. 13, 2021 at the Togus Springs Hospice House.

He was born on Sept. 10, 1947 in Lewiston, the son of Arthur C. Whittier and Annie (Shorey) Whittier. Roger attended schools in Monmouth and graduated from Monmouth Academy, class of 1965. Later graduating from CMVTI as an electrician. He proudly served for the U.S. Air Force as an aircraft mechanic.

On April 13, 1975 in Monmouth, he married Terry Cunliffe. He was an electrical contractor with a master electrician’s license. He was the owner and operator of Whittier’s Electric.

Following his retirement, he and his wife loved to travel and spent many happy winters in Bartow, Fla. Roger was a skilled handyman. He loved being surrounded by his children, and grandchildren. Roger enjoyed coaching and watching them play sports and going on family trips. He was very active with fundraising for all sports and voted in 1995 as the “Fan of the Year” for Monmouth Academy. Roger enjoyed playing golf and most recently playing horseshoes again. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #101 A.F. & A.M. and the American Legion both of Monmouth.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Terry Whittier of Monmouth; two daughters, Penny Webster and husband Chip of Wales, Kristi Laverdiere and husband Jon of Monmouth, and a son, Frank Whittier and his wife Danielle of St. Augustine, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Jordan and Colby Webster, Dylan Lajoie, Levi Laverdiere, Mahdis Verrill, Adaline and Palmer Whittier; two sisters, Betsey Deisinger of New Lisbon, Wis., Nellie Goulette of Jefferson, a brother, Herbert Whittier of Monmouth; many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, Arthur “Sonny” Whittier.

Funeral service with full military honors will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 14, 2022 at the BRAGDON-FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 707 Main St., Monmouth. Visiting hours 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2022 at the funeral home. Interment will be in the spring at Monmouth Ridge Cemetery, Monmouth.
