Esther Evans

LITCHFIELD – Esther Evans, 83, of Litchfield passed away peacefully surrounded by family Dec. 16, 2021. She was born to Arthur and Lillian Goodness June 8, 1938, in Skowhegan. She met the love of her life Ronald “Bud” Evans, they were married Dec. 6, 1980. Together, they had seven children. Esther worked as a hairdresser, a deli manager at Hannaford’s, and most dear to her heart was co-owner of Birches Campground in Litchfield with her husband.

After retirement from the campground, they built their home on Norris Point Road, which she named, in Litchfield. She loved having many of her family right down the road. She enjoyed a game of cribbage every Saturday night, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, spoiling her pets, and looking at the birds and wildlife outside her window.

Esther is survived by her husband of 41 years, Bud Evans; her sister Dolores Verucchi; six children; Rickey and his wife Lisa Cody, Jeff Cody and his partner Rachel Boucher, Christopher Cody and his partner Megan McGuire, Stephanie and her husband Steve Woodard, Karen and her husband Mike Berry, and Ronald “Tiger” Evans. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, and four nieces.

She was predeceased by her parents, her brother-in-law Frank Verucchi, and a son Michael Cody.

There will be a private graveside burial at Litchfield Plains in the spring.
