Toni Miskavage Nelson

MIDLAND, Mich. – Toni Miskavage Nelson, 80, of Midland, Michigan died Thursday evening, Dec. 9, 2021, at Primrose of Midland with her family by her side. She was born April 3, 1941, in Washington, D.C., daughter of the late Anthony and Margaret (Brown) Miskavage. Toni grew up in Augusta, Maine attending Cony High School and the University of Maine, in Orono.

Toni was a loving mother and homemaker for her children as they grew up – later rejoining the workforce to hold a series of positions with Kelly Services, Midland Cogeneration Venture, and more than 20 years with Dow Corning Corporation. She enjoyed spending time with family, her cats, cooking, craftwork, reading, travel, meeting new people – and most of all – her three grandchildren.

She was a caring and supportive mother and grandmother, always placing her children and grandchildren’s needs first. She enjoyed watching all of them succeed academically and participate in school events, extracurricular activities, and sports.

She is survived by her children, son Scott Nelson of Fond du Lac, Wisc., daughter Kathy (Joseph) Vedrody of Clarkston, Mich., son Eric (Pamela) Nelson of Midland; grandchildren Andrea Vedrody of Grand Rapids, Mich., Jessica Vedrody of Minneapolis, Minn., and Jacob Nelson of East Lansing, Mich.

Toni’s family will celebrate her life in a private service in Midland this December and lay her to rest in her beloved state of Maine next summer. Fond memories or sympathies can be shared on the Ware-Smith-Woolever website.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Directors.

The family wishes to thank all of the employees of Primrose Midland and Heartland Home Healthcare and Hospice for the kind and compassionate care they provided to Toni during her final months.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider contributing to the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Michigan Chapter, or the Midland Humane Society in lieu of flowers.
