WEST FORKS – Robert “Bob” F. Cryan Sr., 81, died on Dec. 25, 2021 in Skowhegan. He was born Dec. 10, 1940 in Washington, D.C., the son of Francis A. and Alice (Merriam) Cryan.

He was educated in the schools of Vassalboro and graduated from Winslow High School. Upon graduation, he entered the US Army and was honorably discharged in January of 1963. He went to work for Scott Paper Company in Winslow. He worked there for 35 years until the mill closed in 1997. He then worked for Duratherm Window in North Vassalboro for two years. He then worked for American Tissue in Augusta, retiring in 2001.

Bob was a member of St. John the Baptist Church in Winslow. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #5 in Waterville, the North American Hunting Club, the National Rifle Association, and Snowmobile and ATV Clubs. Bob married Dolores Quirion on Sept. 7, 1964. They shared more than 57 years together.

Bob is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dolores (Quirion) Cryan; son, Robert F. Cryan, Jr. and wife Brianna and their children, Nicholas R. and Eliana M. Cryan; daughter, Kimberly (Cryan) Vicnaire and husband Brent and their children, Cameron P. and Brady R. Vicnaire of Waterville. He was predeceased by his parents; maternal grandparents, Verne and Sara (Ferran) Merriam; and very special aunt, Jane (Merriam) Roberge.

A graveside service will be held at the Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Augusta at a later date at the convenience of the family.
