PLYMOUTH – James Gilbert, 77, died Dec. 29, 2021 at his residence. He was born June 19, 1944 in Bangor, the son of Clarence and Ella (Simpson) Gilbert. He graduated from Bangor High School and served in the U. S. Navy during Vietnam.

Jim was employed as a tin knocker at Bangor Roofing, worked as a boom truck operator at American Concrete, worked construction for Works & Son Construction Company and retired as a self-employed carpenter. Jim was a member of the Plymouth Fire Department, was a past member of the Elks Club and was a past scout master and little league baseball coach.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey (Devoe) Gilbert of Plymouth; his children, Suzette and husband Larry Burgess of Hermon, Angela and husband Steven Murphy of Eddington, Danny Dininno of Plymouth, Mark and wife Sherry Gilbert of Hudson, Kathy and husband James Lea of Dover, Del.; a brother, Kenny and wife Patty Gilbert of Orrington; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren.

A graveside committal service will be held in the spring at the Hermon Pond Cemetery, Hermon. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.
