Charles T. London

CASCO – Charles T. London, formerly of Pittsfield, 92, died peacefully on Dec. 31, 2021, in Casco.

Charles was born on Dec. 13, 1929, in Grindstone Township, Maine, the son of George and Maude (Renner) London. Shortly after giving birth, his mother passed away from complications of delivery. He was then adopted by his grandparents, Charles L. and Maude (Emery) London and moved to Pittsfield. Charles graduated with the class of 1948 from Maine Central Institute and went on to earn his degree from Maine Maritime Academy.

In his early career, he sailed as a merchant marine performing duties of navigator for the American Sailor shipping line. Later and for most of his working career, he served as Port Captain for the Atlantic Cement Company. He was a member of the Meridian Lodge #125 A.F and A. M.

Charles enjoyed family outings, camping with the family station wagon, day trips to the coast, visiting museums, and having a good bite out to eat. He liked football, hockey, scuba diving and boating too. He read the newspaper daily, liked to tell stories when driving, and enjoyed sharing his love of art and history with others. He loved his family and always found time to be with his kids at their sporting events.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Caridad (Carrie) London of Casco; his sons, David London and wife Trish of Naples and George E. London and wife Bonny of Troy; his grandchildren: Matthew and Thomas of Philadelphia, PA, Caitlin of Wilmington, Delaware, Seth and his wife Allison of Slidell, La., and Kylie of Winslow; and his brother-in-law, Leroy Starbird of Clinton.

The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m., with a Masonic service at 3 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 6, 2021, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield.

He was predeceased by his parents, George and Maude (Renner) London and grandparents, Charles L. and Maude (Emery) London.
