NEWPORT – Shirley Fay McDonald, 80, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Jan. 2, 2022.She was born on Nov. 23, 1941, in Waterville, Maine, a daughter of Raymond C. Marden and Katheryn (Burwood) Marden. She grew up in Winslow, Maine, and was educated in the Winslow School system and graduated from Winslow High School in 1961.She married Thomas McDonald in 1961 – “the love of her life”. Together they travelled many places of interest while he served in the U.S. Air Force. They returned to Maine in 1968 and settled down in Pittsfield with their two children, Michael and Tina. She was a faithful member of the Newport Church of God and taught Sunday School, cleaned and did the décor in which she found great joy. She also enjoyed gardening, decorating and being creative, a gift she acknowledged from the Lord. She also enjoyed her family and especially her grandchildren, who she loved dearly. She found great joy in watching them grow and seeing them accomplish things. She was very proud of them, and you would always hear her telling how special they were and what they did. She is survived by her daughter Tina Fitts and her husband Stacey Fitts of Pittsfield; her son Michael McDonald and his wife Heidi (Chamberlain) McDonald of Newport News, Va.; her half-brother Gary Jordan Sr. of St. Albans; grandchildren: Spenser Fitts and his wife Samantha Fitts of Gray, ME, Seth Fitts of Gorham, and Hayley McDonald of Newport News, Va.; and great grandson, Robert. We would like to thank the staff at the Brewer Cancer Center, especially Dr. Hachim and his nurse Lisa for their wonderful care. Interment will be in the spring with her husband at the Maine Veterans Blue Star Memorial Cemetery, 143 Blue Star Avenue, Augusta.
